Project overview
An experimental R&D platform for testing classic speed-runner gameplay with a Web3 economy and real asset ownership: NFT heroes, marketplace interactions, play-and-earn models, wallet flows, and token economy resilience.

Design challenge
Create a play-and-earn experience that rewards skill and results while providing real ownership through NFT heroes and skins. The R&D focus was understanding how Web3 could support engagement, financial performance, and retention without disrupting play.

My role & ownership
I worked on Metarun as a UX/UI Lead Designer, responsible for the product’s UX architecture, meta systems, and core gameplay UX, including the HUD, character controls, and ability interactions.
My scope also covered Web3 flows: wallet connection, NFT minting, reward claiming, and transaction confirmations. I integrated these flows into the player experience and defined quality criteria for Web3 UX.
I led the design team, establishing workflows, conducting design reviews and 1:1s, mentoring designers, managing performance, and coordinating cross-team collaboration.
UX strategy
Web3 should feel native and uncomplicated. Gameplay comes first; Web3 supports it through transparent economics, secure actions, clear value, and UX that builds trust and retention.

Key workstreams
Defined product UX/UI strategy, meta-loop architecture, HUD, controls, and class abilities. Designed wallet connection, minting, claiming, tokenisation, NFT actions, and safe confirmations; led the UX/UI team; and established Web3 quality metrics.
Delivery & impact
NFT heroes, upgrades, trading, and DeFi elements; Sprinter, Fighter, and Craftsman classes; PvE Endless Run and PvP Battle Run; MRUN and OPAL economy; leagues, tournaments, custom rooms, and leaderboards.
