Project overview

Metarun is a mobile networked PvP runner built on Web3 and Unreal Engine 5. Players control unique NFT heroes, compete in endless PvP and PvE races, and earn crypto and the in-game OPAL currency.

An experimental R&D platform for testing classic speed-runner gameplay with a Web3 economy and real asset ownership: NFT heroes, marketplace interactions, play-and-earn models, wallet flows, and token economy resilience.

Goal

Create a play-and-earn experience that rewards skill and results while providing real ownership through NFT heroes and skins. The R&D focus was understanding how Web3 could support engagement, financial performance, and retention without disrupting play.

Product stage

Prototype → Closed Beta → Open Beta → iOS/Android releases. The project reached Open Beta; its metrics and validated hypotheses now inform other products.

What I delivered

What I delivered

Defined product UX/UI strategy, meta-loop architecture, HUD, controls, and class abilities. Designed wallet connection, minting, claiming, tokenisation, NFT actions, and safe confirmations; led the UX/UI team; and established Web3 quality metrics.

Principles and strategy

Principles and strategy

Web3 should feel native and uncomplicated. Gameplay comes first; Web3 supports it through transparent economics, secure actions, clear value, and UX that builds trust and retention.

Project highlights

NFT heroes, upgrades, trading, and DeFi elements; Sprinter, Fighter, and Craftsman classes; PvE Endless Run and PvP Battle Run; MRUN and OPAL economy; leagues, tournaments, custom rooms, and leaderboards.

I design experiences that feel cohesive: where design speaks the product’s language and form supports mechanics, systems, and metrics. A beautiful interface is simply the visible outcome of sound architecture.
